Included are biographical clippings; an obituary; and correspondence (1941-1969) collected by the SWP that Dunne exchanged with party leaders such as James P. Cannon, Farrell Dobbs, and Morris Stein. Topics treated in the correspondence include conditions in Minneapolis (1958-1959) and other SWP branches, public relations tours made by Dunne, and biographical information about his brother William Dunne who was also a radical activist.

William Francis Dunne (1887-1953) was a labor organizer, politician, editor, and Communist Party activist for most of his life. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he worked as an electrician and was active in various unions. He joined the Socialist Party in 1910. Farrell Dobbs (July 25, 1907 – October 31, 1983) was an American Trotskyist, trade unionist, politician, and historian. Dunne became active in the IWW while a migrant worker on the West Coast and in 1920 joined the Communist Party.
